This basic course covers topics that explain basic things about stocks and stock exchanges and how to access the stock exchange. It briefly discusses the historical performance of the stock market and speaks about why investing is important in beating inflation

What is a stock?
A stock is part ownership of a company issued by the company for them to raise capital.
Do I need to be a US citizen?
No
What is a Brokerage Account?
A brokerage account is an account designed specifically to buy and sell shares (stock) of a company that are available for purchase on the stock exchange. Your brokerage account comes with software and mobile applications that allow you to buy and sell stocks.
How do I fund the brokerage account?
You need to have a US bank account in Trinidad or USA and access to US dollars. You then wire transfer money from your US bank account to your brokerage account
Which brokerage account should I use?
1. Interactive Brokers (IBKR)
2. Charles Schwab International
3. TradeZero International
What documents are required to open a brokerage account?
For Charles Schwab:
Scanned copies of your:
1. Passport
2. Proof of Address (bank statement works best)
3. Tax Identification Number (e.g. for Trinidad, your B.I.R. number)
What documents are required to open a US bank account?
Firstly, reach out to your bank of preference to find out the exact requirements. In most cases, you need:

1. A job letter
2. A recent payslip
3. Proof of address (bank statement works best)
4. Source of Funds
